Jennifer Lynn Lopez (born July 24, 1969), popularly nicknamed J.Lo, is an American actor, singer, record producer, dancer, fashion designer and television producer. She is the richest person of Latin American descent in Hollywood according to Forbes, and the most influential Hispanic entertainer in the U.S. according to People en Español's list of "100 Most Influential Hispanics".

Starting in 1999, Lopez released seven albums, including two number one albums on the Billboard 200 charts and four Billboard Hot 100 number one singles. She won the 2003 American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist and the 2007 American Music Award for Favorite Latin Artist. She has appeared in numerous films, and has won ALMA Awards for outstanding actress for her work in Selena, Out of Sight, and Angel Eyes. She parlayed her media fame into a fashion line and various perfumes with her celebrity endorsement.

Media attention has also focused on her personal life. She has had high-profile relationships with Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, Sean Combs, Ben Affleck, and Marc Anthony. Her first children, fraternal twins named Max and Emme, were born on February 22, 2008.

Early life
Jennifer Lopez was born and grew up in the South Bronx, New York to Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodríguez, a kindergarten teacher, and David Lopez, a computer specialist. She has two siblings, Lynda and Leslie. Lopez spent her entire academic career in Catholic schools, finishing at the all-girls Preston High School, in the Bronx. She financed singing and dancing lessons for herself from the age of 19. After attending Baruch College for one semester, Lopez divided her time between working in a legal office, dance classes, and dance performances in Manhattan night clubs. After months of auditioning for dance roles, Lopez was selected as a dancer for various rap music videos, a 1990 episode of Yo! MTV Raps, and as a backup dancer for the New Kids on the Block and their performance of their song "Games" for the American Music Awards in 1991. After being rejected twice, Lopez gained her first regular high-profile job as a "Fly Girl" dancer on the television comedy program In Living Color in 1990. Soon after, Lopez became a backup dancer for Janet Jackson and made an appearance in her 1993 video "That's the Way Love Goes".


Film and television
Lopez appeared on the short-lived television programs South Central, Second Chances, and Hotel Malibu, and the made-for-television film Nurses on the Line: The Crash of Flight 7. Lopez broke into the big screen in the 1995 drama My Family and then appeared opposite Wesley Snipes in the action film Money Train. Lopez has played roles in Francis Ford Coppola's 1996 comedy Jack starring Robin Williams, and the 1997 thriller Blood and Wine with Jack Nicholson. Lopez played the lead role in the 1997 film Selena for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for "Best Actress - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy" in 1998. She became the first Hispanic actress to get paid $1 million or more for a film role. Some of her other critically-acclaimed films include Out of Sight, The Cell, An Unfinished Life, and Shall We Dance?. Two independent films produced by Lopez were well-received at film festivals: El Cantante at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Bordertown at the Brussels film festival. Other modestly successful films include The Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law, and Enough. Gigli, however, would be a critical and commercial disappointment. In August 2007, Lopez collaborated on the feature film, El Cantante, with her husband singer-actor Marc Anthony. The film is in English, with a creative use of subtitles for songs with Spanish lyrics.

Lopez made an appearance as a mentor on American Idol on April 10, 2007.

In May 2006, Lopez was the executive producer of the eight-episode reality show, DanceLife, which ran on MTV beginning January 15, 2007. Lopez helped select the show's participants and made cameo appearances. She then served as executive producer of a miniseries broadcast on Univisión. Titled after her CD Como Ama Una Mujer, it ran in five episodes from October 30 to November 27, 2007, and starred Christian Borrero and Adriana Cruz.

Lopez signed a contract as star and executive producer of an unscripted reality series for TLC, a division of Discovery Communications Inc. The series will show the launching of her new fragrance, and will not focus on her family.


Box office standing and record sales
Lopez is one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood and the highest-paid Latin actress in Hollywood history, though she's never had a film grossing over $100 million in the U.S. Lopez appeared in the 2007 Guinness World Records as the most powerful actress. She was on the The Hollywood Reporter's list of the top ten actress salaries in 2002, 2003, and 2004. She received $15,000,000 for her role in Monster-in-Law. Her top-grossing film domestically is Maid in Manhattan which grossed $94,011,225, and her most successful international film, Shall We Dance?, grossed $112,238,000 at the international box office. Domestically, Shall We Dance? grossed $57,890,460 and a total of $170,128,460 worldwide.

Lopez has sold over 48 million albums worldwide. Lopez made the 2007 Forbes magazine's list of The 20 Richest Women In Entertainment, ranking ninth. Her wealth is estimated to be $110 million.

Music career

On the 6 (1999)

Lopez's debut album On the 6, a reference to the 6 subway line she used to take growing up in Castle Hill was released on June 1, 1999, and reached the top ten of the Billboard 200. The album featured the Billboard Hot 100 number-one lead single, "If You Had My Love",, as well as the top ten hit "Waiting for Tonight". The album also featured a Spanish language, Latin-flavored duet "No Me Ames" with Marc Anthony (who later would become her husband.) Though "No Me Ames" never had a commercial release, it reached number one on the U.S. Hot Latin Tracks. On the 6 featured guest artists such as Big Pun and Fat Joe on the track "Feelin' So Good", which had moderate success on the Billboard Hot 100. "Let's Get Loud", the final single, earned Lopez a Grammy Award nomination in the "Best Dance Recording" category in 2001 Grammy Awards. "Waiting for Tonight" was nominated for the same category the previous year. "No Me Ames" received two nominations at the 2000 Latin Grammy Awards — "Best Pop Duo/Group with Vocal Performance" and "Best Music Video".


J. Lo (2001)

Lopez's second album, J. Lo, was released on January 23, 2001 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. When her film The Wedding Planner achieved number one shortly after, Lopez become the first actress-singer to have a film and an album at number one in the same week. The lead single, "Love Don't Cost a Thing", was her first number-one single in the United Kingdom and took her into the top five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. She followed it up with "Play" which gave her another top twenty hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number three in the UK. Her next two singles were "I'm Real" and "Ain't It Funny" which were quickly rising up the charts. To capitalize on this, Lopez asked The Inc. Records (then known as Murder Inc.) to remix both songs, which featured rap artists Ja Rule (on both) and Caddillac Tah (on the "Ain't It Funny" remix). Both remixes reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks. She re-released J. Lo on her thirty-second birthday with the remix of "I'm Real" as a bonus track. Also, "Si Ya Se Acabó" was released in Spain, due to the success "Que Ironia".


J to tha L-O!: The Remixes (2002)

Following the success of the re-release of J. Lo, Lopez decided to devote an entire album to the remixing effort, releasing J to tha L-O!: The Remixes, on February 5, 2002. This album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, becoming the first remix album in history to debut at the top on the chart. Featured artists on J to tha L-O!: The Remixes included P. Diddy, Fat Joe, and Nas, and the album included rare dance and hip hop remixes of past singles. It is the third all-time biggest-selling remix album in the world, after Michael Jackson's Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix (1997) and Madonna's You Can Dance (1987).


This Is Me... Then (2002)

On November 26, 2002, Lopez released her third studio album, This Is Me... Then, which reached number two on the Billboard 200 and spawned four singles: "Jenny from the Block" (featuring Jadakiss and Styles P), which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100; "All I Have" (featuring LL Cool J), which spent multiple weeks at number one; "I'm Glad"; and "Baby I Love U!". The album included a cover of Carly Simon's 1978 "You Belong to Me".

The video for "I'm Glad" recreated scenes from the 1983 film Flashdance, leading to a lawsuit over copyright infringement, which was later dismissed.


Rebirth (2005)

After a year away from the music scene, Lopez released her fourth studio album, Rebirth, on March 1, 2005. Although debuting and peaking at number two on the Billboard 200, the album quickly fell off the charts. It spawned the hit "Get Right", which reached the top fifteen in the U.S. and became her second Platinum hit (after "If You Had My Love"). "Get Right" was also successful in the UK, becoming her second number-one single there. The second single, "Hold You Down", which featured Fat Joe, reached number sixty-four on the U.S. Hot 100; it peaked at number six in the UK and ascended to the top twenty in Australia. Another song, "Cherry Pie", was slated for a release in late 2005, but the plans to make a video were canceled as the album sales were definitely too weak and the promotion budget exceeded. It was released to radio stations in Spain. Rebirth was certified Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. Lopez was then featured on LL Cool J's single "Control Myself", which was released on February 1, 2006. It reached number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the UK Singles Chart. It was Lopez's first U.S. top ten hit in three years.


Como Ama Una Mujer (2007)

Lopez officially released her first full Spanish-language album, called Como Ama una Mujer, on March 27, 2007 in the U.S. and March 23, 2007 in Europe. Her husband, singer Marc Anthony, produced the album with Estefano, except for "Qué Hiciste", which Anthony co-produced with Julio Reyes. The album peaked at number ten on the U.S. Billboard 200, number one on the U.S. Top Latin Albums (for four straight weeks), number one on the U.S. Latin Pop Albums (for seven straight weeks), and number one hundred and thirty-one in the UK. The album did well in Europe peaking at number three on the albums chart, mainly due to the big success in countries like Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Greece, Germany, Austria, and Portugal. The lead single, "Qué Hiciste" (Spanish for "What Did You Do"), was officially released to radio stations in January 2007. Since then, it has peaked at eighty-six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot Latin Songs and the Hot Dance Club Play. It also went top ten on the European chart. The video for the song was the first Spanish-language video to peak at number one on MTV's Total Request Live daily countdown. The second single released is called "Me Haces Falta" and the third is "Por Arriesgarnos". Lopez won an American Music Award as the Favorite Latin Artist in 2007. Como Ama una Mujer holds the record for the best opening week internet sales for a Spanish album. With Como Ama Una Mujer, Jennifer Lopez is one of the few performers to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 with a Spanish album.


Brave (2007)

Just over six months later, on October 9, 2007, Lopez released her fifth English studio album (sixth studio album overall). She collaborated with producers Midi Mafia, J. R. Rotem, Lynn and Wade and Ryan Tedder, with Rotem working on some tracks with writing partner Evan "Kidd" Bogart.[20] Earlier, on August 26, 2007, ABC premiered a promo for the fourth season of Desperate Housewives, featuring a snippet of the song "Mile In These Shoes". "Do It Well" was released as the lead single and reached the top 20 in many countries. "Hold It, Don't Drop It" was released as the second single in only in some countries from Europe.


2009-present
Several websites have confirmed that Lopez needs to release one more studio album to fulfill her current record contract with Epic Records. Music retailers Amazon.com and Play.com listed a new greatest hits album to be released in 2009. It is expected to be released around the summer time to celebrate Lopez's decade in the music industry. The album is rumoured to be titled "Jennifer Lopez - 10 Years Hooked on You" after a track called "Hooked On You" was circulated on the internet. Lopez went on to publish the follow message on her official website:

"I’m always excited about my music and this is one of a few tracks I’m currently working on. I’m flattered by everyone’s interest in the track and really excited for you to hear the real thing! Check back soon for more information on my next release".

In an interview Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins said that himself, Ron Fair and Ron Browz were working with Lopez on a forthcoming release.

On May 12, 2009 a new song titled "What Love Is" surfaced which was produced by "Darkchild" and written by Wynter Gordon. However Gordon reported that she was unhappy about the recording say that it "was a personal song that meant too much for it to end this way." She also believes the recording did not do the song nor the artist justice.

2007: Juntos en Concierto
Billboard Magazine reported, on July 24, 2007, that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony would "co-headline" a worldwide tour called "Juntos en Concierto" starting in New Jersey on September 29. Tickets went on sale August 10. The tour was a mix of her current music, older tunes and Spanish music. In a later press release, Lopez announced a detailed itinerary. The tour launched September 28, 2007 at the Mark G. Etess Arena and ended on November 7, 2007 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.


Business
Lopez launched a clothing line in 2003. Named JLO by Jennifer Lopez, the line included different types of clothing for young women, including jeans, T-shirts, coats, belts, purses, and lingerie, a jewelry line, and an accessory line that includes hats, gloves, and scarves. Lopez participated in the Louis Vuitton Winter 2003 campaign. In 2005, she launched a new clothing line called Sweetface. In late 2007, Lopez retired JLO by Jennifer Lopez and launched a new juniors' line called JustSweet. Her fashion lines have featured at many New York Fashion Week events.

Lopez's frequent use of animal fur in her clothing lines and personal wardrobe has brought the scorn of people concerned with animal rights. At the Los Angeles premiere of Monster-in-Law, more than one hundred protesters from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) held a demonstration to highlight their concerns. Lopez told a radio DJ she was open to being educated on the topic.

On April 12, 2002, Lopez opened a Cuban restaurant in the South Lake district of Pasadena, California named Madre's. A media sensation was creating when during a press shoot for the fancy restaurant, a mysterious man appeared out of the sidelines and gave Lopez a floral arrangement from Ben Affleck, even as then-husband Cris Judd stood next to her. Lopez was widely criticized for what appeared to be infidelity on her part.

Lopez has ventured in the perfume industry, with her debut "Glow by J.Lo". In October 2003, Lopez introduced a perfume called "Still", having revisit "Glow" the previous year by creating a limited edition spin-off, "Miami Glow by J.Lo", in homage to her adopted hometown of Miami. Lopez also marketed a "Glow" line of body lotions and bronzing products. For the Christmas season of 2005, she launched another fragrance, "Live by Jennifer Lopez". For 2006 Valentine's Day, "Miami Glow" was replaced by yet another "Glow" spin-off, "Love at First Glow by J.Lo". Her following fragrance, "Live Luxe", was released in August 2006, with "Glow After Dark" following in January 2007.

Lopez owns the film and television production company Nuyorican Productions, which she co-founded with her manager, Benny Medina.[citation needed] Dancer and ex-husband Cris Judd once had a stake in the company when he and Lopez were still married.[citation needed] Lopez is a spokesperson for Lux shampoo in Japan, appearing in the product's television commercials.

Lopez has been recognized by People en Español magazine as both the cover subject for the "50 Most Beautiful" issue in 2006 and the "100 Most Influential Hispanics" issue in February 2007.


Relationships

Ojani Noa
Lopez's first marriage was to Cuban-born Ojani Noa on February 22, 1997. Lopez met Noa while he worked as a waiter at a Miami restaurant. They divorced in January 1998. Lopez later employed Noa as the manager of her Pasadena restaurant Madre's in April 2002, but he was fired in October 2002. After Noa sued Lopez over the termination, they drew up a confidentiality agreement. In April 2006, Lopez sued to prevent her ex-husband, Noa, from publishing a book containing personal details about their short marriage, contending it violated their confidentiality agreement.

In August 2007, a court-appointed arbitrator issued a permanent injunction forbidding Ojani Noa from "criticizing, denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging" Jennifer Lopez. She was awarded $545,000 in compensatory damages, which included nearly $300,000 in legal fees and almost $48,000 in arbitration costs. Noa was also ordered to hand over all copies of materials related to the book to Lopez or her attorney.


Sean Combs
Lopez next had a two-and-a-half-year relationship with hip-hop mogul Sean Combs. On December 27, 1999, Lopez and Combs were at Club New York, a midtown Manhattan nightclub, when gunfire erupted between Combs' entourage and another group. Lopez and Combs were being driven away from the scene when they were chased and stopped by the police. A stolen gun was found in the front seat of their vehicle. Lopez was charged with felony gun possession, but the charges were dropped, as she was riding in the back seat at the time. Stress over the trial and pursuit by the press multiplied their problems, and Lopez terminated her involvement with Combs one year later. Lopez was served with a subpoena in June 2008 to testify about the incident in a deposition August 6, 2008 but the deposition did not occur because Lopez had “nothing to contribute to the case”.

Cris Judd
Her second marriage was to her former backup dancer, Cris Judd. She met Judd while filming the music video for her single "Love Don't Cost a Thing." The two were married on September 29, 2001, at a home in a Los Angeles suburb. Their marriage effectively ended in June 2002, when Lopez began publicly dating Ben Affleck. They were officially divorced in January 2003.


Ben Affleck
Lopez's relationship with actor Ben Affleck was highly publicized, with the media dubbing the couple "Bennifer". Lopez announced her engagement to Affleck in November 2002, after Affleck gave her a six-carat pink diamond ring worth a reported $1.2 million. Lopez promised interviewers that Affleck was indeed "the one", and that they would soon have a family. The marriage, planned for September 14, 2003 in Santa Barbara, California, was called off just hours before the event. During the week before the scheduled nuptials, Affleck had been seen by press carousing at a strip club in Vancouver with friends. The media blitz intensified when it was Lopez's own sister who called in live radio to tell Lopez where her fiance had been the previous night. Lopez would only respond by saying it was a terrible way to begin the day, finding out about Affleck's behavior in that manner. Publicists announced a permanent split on January 20, 2004. Affleck has refused to speak of his relationship with Lopez, only citing intense media attention as the cause of the break-up. Their relationship was parodied on the South Park episode "Fat Butt and Pancake Head", which aired on April 16, 2003. There was a mild media furor as to whether Lopez would give Affleck back his ring after the break-up. Lopez did return it and it was discreetly placed for sale at the original jewelers. Affleck has since married actress Jennifer Garner on July 1, 2005 and they have a daughter, Violet, born on December 1, 2005. Marc Anthony

They had briefly dated in the late 1990s, before his first marriage and her second. Lopez and Anthony were recording a duet together in early 2004, for Lopez's then-upcoming film Shall We Dance?. In October 2003, Anthony became separated, for the second time, from his first wife, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, with whom he has two children. Torres filed for divorce three months later. Lopez and Anthony married in a quiet home wedding on June 5, 2004, four days after his divorce from Torres was final. Their ceremony was private and unpublicized. In attendance were an estimated forty close relatives and friends. On the morning of the wedding, however, the media was tipped off and circled her backyard in helicopters. Photographs, alerting the rest of the world, soon followed. Reports fueled rumors that Lopez was pregnant but this was not the case.

Lopez's guests had been invited to an "afternoon party" at Lopez's house and had not been made aware that they were actually going to her wedding. The couple had planned not to publicize their marriage early on, allowing more privacy and time together in an otherwise intrusive environment. Days after the wedding, Anthony refused to comment on their marriage during interviews which were scheduled earlier to promote a new album "Amar Sin Mentiras" (To Love Without Lies). In February 2005, Lopez confirmed the marriage, and added that "everyone knows. It's not a secret". A few months later, Anthony's daughter, Ariana, appeared at the end of Lopez's music video "Get Right" as her little sister. On December 29, 2008, Daily News reported that Lopez and Anthony planned to announce their divorce on Valentine's Day. This allegation was put to rest by her publicist stating that "There is no merit to the article".


Scientology
It was reported that Lopez and Anthony were taking professional business meetings at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood, California, in late 2006. It was also rumored that Lopez and Anthony became Scientologists during that period with the help of Angelo Pagan, the husband of "King of Queens" actress and Scientologist Leah Remini. Just prior to those reports, Lopez said to NBC, "I'm not a Scientologist, I was raised Catholic. But it's funny the way people come at it. To me it's so strange. These are some of the best people I've ever met in my life." She added, "My dad has been a Scientologist for 20 years. He's the best man that I know in my life and so, it's weird to me that people want to paint it in a negative way."


Pregnancy and birth of twins
On the last night of their "En Concierto" tour November 7, 2007, before a crowd of fans, Lopez confirmed she was expecting her first child with husband Marc Anthony. The announcement ended months of speculation over the pregnancy. Her father later confirmed on February 5, 2008, she was expecting twins. Lopez gave birth on February 22, 2008 to fraternal twins, a girl and a boy, Emme Maribel Muñiz, and Maximilian "Max" David Muñiz. The twins were introduced in the March 11, 2008 issue of People magazine for which the magazine paid $6 million.


Human rights advocacy
In May 2001, Lopez attended a White House benefit for UNICEF, where she assisted magician David Copperfield with an illusion which gave the appearance that she had been sawed into six pieces.

On February 14, 2007, Lopez received the Artists for Amnesty International award "in recognition of her work as producer and star of Bordertown, a film exposing the ongoing murders of hundreds of women in the border city of Juárez, Mexico". Nobel Peace Prize winner José Ramos-Horta presented the award to Lopez at the Berlin International Film Festival. She also received special recognition and thanks from Norma Andrade, co-founder of Nuestras Hijas de Regreso a Casa A.C. ("May Our Daughters Return Home, Civil Association"), an organization consisting of mothers and families of the murdered women of Juárez.

En 1995 se lanzó al cine con un papel secundario en la película My Family (Mi familia), dirigida por Gregory Nava, y más tarde obtuvo el papel protagonista femenino en la cinta Money Train (Asalto al tren del dinero), al lado de Wesley Snipes. La experiencia de Money Train le trajo más trabajos y oportunidades en 1996, pues trabajó con actores como Robin Williams en la película Jack, y con Jack Nicholson en la película Blood & Wine (Sangre y Vino).

En 1997, López llegó a la fama por ser la protagonista de la película Selena, donde interpretaría a la desaparecida cantante Selena. La cinta se estrenó el 21 de marzo de 1997. Por su actuación ganó un millón de dólares, convirtiéndose en la actriz latina mejor pagada hasta aquel entonces. Su trabajo en Selena obtuvo críticas positivas, obteniendo así una nominación al Golden Globe por Mejor Actriz en 1998. Ese mismo, año coprotagonizó Anaconda dirigida por Luis Llosa al lado de figuras como John Voight, Ice Cube y Owen Wilson, siendo nominada al Saturn Awards como mejor actriz de reparto. También trabajaría en U-Turn (Giro al infierno), junto con el actor Sean Penn y dirigida por Oliver Stone, y con George Clooney en Out Of Sight (Un romance muy peligroso), cinta en la que Jennifer ganó dos millones de dólares.

Pero Jennifer no se olvidaba de su gran sueño, que era el canto y el baile, así que en 1998 mandó su demo a varias discográficas y Tommy Mottola, director entonces de Sony Music, se interesó por ella después de ver la película Selena. J. Lo firmó contrato con Sony Music y se puso a trabajar con el productor Corey Rooney, quien había trabajado con Mariah Carey, Céline Dion y Destiny's Child.

El 1 de junio de 1999 lanzó su primer álbum, llamado On the 6, en honor a la línea del metro neoyorquino que tomaba todos los días para ir a sus clases de canto y baile. El disco debutó en el "top 10" del Billboard. Su primer single, If You Had My Love, alcanzó el número uno del Billboard Hot 100. Asimismo lanzó un single para el mercado latino llamado No me ames, un dúo que hizo con el cantante de origen puertorriqueño, Marc Anthony, que se convertiría en su esposo 5 años después. Este dueto también alcanzó el número uno del Billboard Latin Tracks por 10 semanas consecutivas. Su segundo single en inglés llamado Waiting For Tonight llegó a los diez primeros puestos del Billboard Hot 100.

En agosto del año 2000 se estrenó su película The Cell (La celda) protagonizada por López y Vince Vaughn que debutó en el número uno de la taquilla, siendo la primera película protagonizada por Jennifer López en alcanzarlo.

El 23 de enero de 2001 salió a la venta su segundo álbum titulado, J. Lo, que era el apodo que utilizaban sus fans. Este disco debutó en el número uno de ventas en el Billboard Hot 200 y estableció un récord Guinness pues fue la primera artista en colocar un disco número uno en ventas, al mismo tiempo que una película protagonizada por ella conseguía lo mismo en esa semana. Esta película fue The Wedding Planner (Planes de boda), su primera comedia romántica. El primer single de dicho álbum fue el tema Love Don't Cost A Thing que de nueva cuenta obtuvo el número uno en las listas de popularidad. Este álbum se relanzó el 24 de julio de 2001 para agregarle I'm Real Remix, tema que se colocó por 5 semanas en el número uno del Billboard Hot 100.

J.Lo sacó un dúo con el cantante Chayanne, Dame. La canción se encuentra en el álbum de jennifer llamado J.Lo y es en español. También para el idioma español saco una canción llamada Si ya se acabó esa canción se encuentra en el mismo álbum.

En mayo de 2001 se estrena su película Angel Eyes (Mirada de Ángel) que protagonizó con James Caviezel.

En febrero de 2002 lanza su disco de Remixes J to tha L-O! The Remixes que debuta en el número uno de ventas del Billboard hot 200, al igual que su primer single Ain't It Funny Remix (Feat. Ja Rule), estableciendo con esto dos récords: por ser la única cantante en tener un disco de remixes en el número uno de ventas, y por ser la única de tener un disco de remixes número uno en ventas al mismo tiempo que lo hace también una canción.

En mayo del 2002 se estrena con éxito su película Enough (Nunca más), cinta que trata sobre el abuso doméstico.

El 26 de noviembre, Jennifer lanza su tercer disco de estudio llamado This is Me...Then que logra excelentes ventas, alcanzando el número dos del Billboard. Su primer single, Jenny From The Block, se convierte en un éxito en varios países y en su video aparece con su prometido Ben Affleck. Su segundo sencillo All I Have alcanza el número uno del Billboard Hot 100 y participa en él, el rapero LL Cool J.

En diciembre se lanza su nueva comedia romántica llamada Maid In Manhattan (Sucedió en Manhattan) que protagoniza con el actor Ralph Fiennes, con lo que J.Lo logra participar en otra película número uno en taquilla.

En el año 2003, se estrena su criticada película Gigli que protagonizó con su entonces prometido Ben Affleck. La película fue un rotundo fracaso en taquilla. Jennifer López rodó ese verano otras dos películas, Shall We Dance (¿Bailamos?) y An Unfinished Life (Una vida por delante).

En enero del año 2004 termina su relación con el actor Ben Affleck debido a que él no soportara el acoso de la prensa, pero en realidad es ella quien lo termina al darse cuenta de que Affleck no acepta y cuestiona el contrato prematrimonial que establecía condiciones económicas abrumadoras y agobiantes para Affleck.[cita requerida]

En marzo de ese año se estrenó la película Jersey Girl (Una chica de Jersey) donde ella hizo una breve aparición especial como esposa de Ben Affleck, lógicamente Jennifer no asistió al estreno de la película, la cual tuvo una modesta recaudación. En febrero de ese año, ella le pide a su amigo Marc Anthony que le ayude en la producción de una nueva versión de la famosa canción "Sway" interpretada en los años 50 por Dean Martin, y que Jennifer interpretaría para la banda sonora de su película Shall We Dance?. La amistad se convirtió en amor, y se casan en junio de ese mismo año ante la sorpresa de todo el mundo.

En octubre se estrena su película Shall We Dance? (¿Bailamos?) que protagonizó al lado de Richard Gere y Susan Sarandon, obteniendo excelentes críticas, y una buena taquilla a nivel mundial. Lo curioso fue que la compañía Miramax decidió a final de cuentas no utilizar la canción "Sway" interpretada por Jennifer y producida por Marc Anthony pues Jennifer hizo una versión salsa con toques latinos, y ellos querían una versión dance uptempo de la canción.

En 2005 Jennifer regresa con su cuarto álbum de estudio llamado Rebirth, pues se sentía como renacida después de haber superado el escándalo de Affleck y el fracaso de Gigli. El disco se lanzó el 1 de marzo, y debutó en el número uno en el World Chart, vendiendo en sólo una semana casi 650 mil copias en todo el mundo, y se colocó número dos en el Billboard Hot 200. Su primer single llamado Get Right que tenia una fusion de Funk y de Pop, alcanzó el número uno en las listas de popularidad. Sin embargo inesperadamente Jennifer deja de hacer promoción, hay muchos rumores de peleas con la discográfica, y el disco cae en picada en las listas de ventas. Sólo se lanzaron dos singles, ya que Jennifer prefirió trabajar completamente es su primer álbum en español.

En mayo de 2005 se estrenó su tercera comedia romántica llamada Monster In-Law (Si te casas, te mato), por la que le pagaron $15 millones de dólares. Dicha cinta debuto #1 en taquilla, demostrando que Jennifer había superado la etapa de fracaso de Gigli. Y en otoño de ese año por fin se estrenó el film An Unfinished Life (Una vida por delante) que protagonizó con Robert Redford y Morgan Freeman. Esta película, de bajo presupuesto, le valió a Jennifer muy buenas críticas por su papel.

En el verano del año 2005 Jennifer, inicia el rodaje de la película Bordertown donde además sería la productora ejecutiva con su compañía Nuyorican Productions. La película fue protagonizada por Jennifer y el actor español Antonio Banderas, el director fue el mismo director de Selena, Gregory Nava. La película trata sobre los mujeres asesinadas en Ciudad Juárez, (México). Fue vetada en México y hasta la fecha no se ha estrenado en dicho país, en Estados Unidos nunca pudo conseguir una compañía distribuidora por lo tanto saldrá directamente en formato DVD el 29 de enero de 2008.

En enero de 2006 se rodó "El Cantante", un film basado en la vida del polémico cantante puertorriqueño de los años 70's Héctor Lavoe. Jennifer además de ser la productora del filme también fue la protagonista interpretando a "Puchi", la esposa de Lavoe, y el cantante Marc Anthony interpretó magistralmente a Héctor Lavoe.

En enero de 2006 lanzó la canción Control Myself donde cantó otra vez al lado de LL Cool J, después de All I Have. Este tema es el primer single del nuevo disco de LL Cool J. y alcanzo el #4 del Billboard Hot 100, estableciendo un record de la canción que más alto ha regresado a la lista de Billboard, gracias a la venta del iTune.

El 2007 es el año la incursión de Jennifer en el mercado hispano con su quinto álbum de estudio y primer trabajo completamente en español, llamado Como ama una mujer. El disco, que fuera producido por Estefano y Julio Reyes, salió a la venta el 27 de marzo debutando como número uno en ventas y considerado el disco en español más vendido en una semana por una cantante debutante en ese idioma. El 1er single fue "Qué hiciste" que alcanzó el número uno del Billboard Latin Songs y su video fue el primero en español en alcanzar el número uno del canal en inglés de MTV. El segundo sencillo "Me haces falta" fue lanzado hasta el verano de ese año sin más promoción que un excelente videoclip donde Jennifer interpreta a una mujer policía que enamora a un delincuente para atraparlo, pero en el proceso ella se enamoró verdaderamente de él, y se arrepiente de la trampa que le hizo. El disco Como Ama Una Mujer se convirtió en el segundo disco en español más vendido en todo el mundo en el año 2007 solo seguido de "Papito" de Miguel Bosé.

En septiembre del año 2007, Jennifer sale de gira por primera vez, acompañada por su esposo Marc Anthony y juntos recorren los Estados Unidos y Canadá con un éxito inusitado, finalizándose la misma en noviembre, en la ciudad de Miami, donde, por cierto, al final del concierto Jennifer confesó a sus miles de fans presentes que estaba embarazada.

Jennifer lanzó el 9 de octubre de 2007 su nuevo disco en inglés, llamado Brave, que es su sexto disco de estudio pero el quinto en inglés. El primer sencillo fue Do It Well un tema pop muy pegajoso que fue lanzado el 21 de agosto de ese año a todas las estaciones de radio y fue número uno en el Billboard Dance Chart. Debido al embarazo de Jennifer y a que ella esta de gira, no hace mucha promoción del disco, por lo cual debuta muy bajo en ventas, agregando el hecho de que el primer single no despega en la radio y el video no fue del agrado de los fans. En diciembre de ese año se lanza en Europa & Asia "Hold It Don't Drop It" como el segundo sencillo del disco Brave, acompañado de un video espectacular donde no se nota el embarazo de la diva estadounidense. Dicha canción alcanzo el número del Billboard Dance Chart. Para el mercado estadounidense, el segundo sencillo sería la canción Brave, de la cual ya hay un video filmado que fue dirigido por Michael Haussman, el mismo que la dirigió en el video de "Que Hiciste", pero aún no hay fecha de estreno en radio.

En enero de 2008, Jennifer lanza "Por Arriesgarnos" el tercer single de su disco en español "Como ama una mujer". En el video podemos ver un collage de imágenes de la gira de conciertos de Jennifer en el 2007 y escenas de detrás de las cámaras en dichos conciertos.

El 22 de febrero de 2008 Jennifer dio a luz a gemelos. La niña vino al mundo a las 6:12 de la madrugada (hora española) y pesó casi 2,5 kilos. El niño nació trece minutos después con 2.7 kilos de peso. Son los primeros hijos de López, mientras que su marido tiene 3 hijos de relaciones anteriores. La niña se llama Emme Marbiel Muñiz y el niño Maximilian 'Max' David Muñiz. J. Lo. Concedió la exclusiva de ella y sus gemelos a People Magazine por 6 millones de dólares.

Los planes de Jennifer, después de recuperarse de su embarazo son protagonizar las películas Love and other impossible persuits (El Amor y otros imposibles), y The Governess(La Institutriz). Además Jennifer esta preparando un disco de éxitos para celebrar sus 10 años como cantante, el cual incluirá todos sus hits de 1999 al 2009, pero incluirá canciones nuevas que actualmente está grabando con productores de la talla de Timbaland, Bryan Michael Cox, The Matrix, Swizz Beatz, y espera lanzarlo a la venta en febrero de 2009 justo cuando sus hijos cumplan un año de vida.


2009, el presente Varios sitios web han confirmado que López tiene que liberar un álbum de estudio más para cumplir su actual contrato con Epic Records. Música minoristas Amazon.com y Play.com figuran un nuevo álbum de grandes éxitos que se publicará en 2009. Se espera que se libere todo el horario de verano para celebrar López en la década de la industria de la música. El álbum se rumorea que se titula "Jennifer Lopez - 10 años enganchado en ti" después de una pista llamada "enganchado Usted" fue distribuido en Internet. López llegó a publicar el mensaje de seguimiento en su página web oficial:

"Yo siempre estoy entusiasmado con mi música y esta es una de las pocas pistas que estoy trabajando actualmente. Estoy halagado por el interés de todos en la pista y muy emocionada por ti para escuchar la verdad! Vuelve pronto para más información sobre mi próximo lanzamiento "[21].

En una entrevista Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins dice que él mismo, justo y Ron Ron Browz trabajan con López en una próxima liberación.

El 12 de mayo de 2009 una nueva canción titulada "What Love Is", que surgió fue producido por "Darkchild" y escrito por Wynter Gordon. Sin embargo, Gordon informó de que estaba descontenta con la grabación decir que "fue un tema que significa demasiado para que termine de esta manera." Ella también cree que la grabación no hizo la canción ni el artista justicia.
